Data Security Standards: IDOR Prevention, Session Encryption, and Respondent Privacy
Architecture overview of APRA platform security: IDOR protection, Gate & Policy authorization, and respondent privacy ethics.
Security Architecture Pillars of APRA
- IDOR (Insecure Direct Object Reference) Prevention:
All access to routes such as
/farms/{id}or/farms/{id}/observation-units/{unit}is validated through Laravel Policies. Other surveyors cannot read, edit, or delete your surveys even if they guess numeric IDs in the URL. - Private Storage for Field Photographs:
Field observation photos are never stored in public directories like
public/storage. Instead, they reside in isolated private storage disks and are streamed strictly to authenticated, authorized users via encrypted session tokens. - Farmer Privacy & Data Ethics:
Farmer identities and GPS coordinates are sensitive research information. Never export survey datasets for unauthorized redistribution. All public analytical reports must aggregate data to preserve respondent anonymity.
